US multinational corporation EMC has upgraded its partnership with the Deutsche Bank Championship to take on title sponsorship rights to the golf event from 2017.
The length of EMC’s title sponsorship agreement was not disclosed and the official name of the tournament will be announced at a later date. EMC will replace German financial services company Deutsche Bank as the tournament’s title sponsor. Deutsche Bank has held title sponsorship rights to the tournament since its inception in 2003.
The event is the second of four season-ending playoff events on the PGA Tour circuit. EMC has a long-running association with the event, having signed on as a Founders Club partner in 2003 and later becoming a local presenting sponsor.
This year’s Deutsche Bank Championship concludes later today (Monday) at the TPC Boston club in Norton, Massachussetts. England’s Paul Casey currently holds a three-shot lead over Brian Harman of the US heading into the final day’s play.
