German Bundesliga football club Eintracht Frankfurt has named Deutsche Börse, which operates the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, as its new shirt-sleeve sponsor.
The initial three-year deal will cover the 2017-18 to 2019-20 seasons. The logo of Deutsche Börse, which is headquartered in Frankfurt, will appear on the left sleeve of the team’s jerseys.
Deutsche Börse will also serve as a premium partner of the club as part of the agreement.
Axel Hellman, a member of the board at Eintracht Frankfurt, said: “We look forward to a long-term partnership with Deutsche Börse. Eintracht Frankfurt and the German stock exchange are important flagships of the region and therefore fit together perfectly.”
Eintracht Frankfurt becomes the fourth Bundesliga club to sign a shirt-sleeve sponsor for next season, joining Schalke 04, TSG Hoffenheim and recently relegated Darmstadt 98.
The German Football League (DFL) announced in December 2015 that clubs would be free to pursue shirt-sleeve sponsors for the 2017-18 season after electing to end its central marketing approach for branding on that area of teams’ jerseys.
Logistics service provider Hermes held rights to the area under a four-and-a-half year contract that expired at the end of the 2016-17 season, with its branding having appeared on the sleeves of all players in the top-tier Bundesliga and second-tier 2.Bundesliga.
