The UAE Basketball Association has reached a long-term agreement with Dubai Duty Free under which the airport retailer has become an event sponsor of the International Basketball Federation’s (Fiba) 2014 U-17 World Championship in Dubai.
Under the agreement, Dubai Duty Free will also serve as a sponsor of the UAE squad at the 16-nation event, which takes place from August 8-16. The UAE will be one of seven countries making their U-17 World Championship debut.
Fiba’s global tournament is the latest sporting property to become associated with Dubai Duty Free, which boasts a commercial portfolio boasting tournaments on the ATP and WTA tennis tours, the IRB’s Dubai Rugby Sevens and Ascot Racecourse in the UK.
