Canadian sports apparel provider Dryworld has continued its Brazilian football investment drive by entering into a partnership with Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A club Atlético Mineiro.
Dryworld has agreed a five-year deal to become the club’s new sports equipment provider. The partnership will cover the 2016 to 2020 Serie A seasons.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, although the Maquina do Esporte website claimed the deal would earn the club around R$100m (€22.4m/$24.5m) in total. In a statement, Atlético confirmed it was the “largest contract in the history of the club” and one of the three biggest in Brazilian football.
Under the agreement, Dryworld will supply Atlético’s new playing kit, which will be debuted during the club’s Copa Libertadores match against Peruvian Primera División side Melgar on February 17.
Dryworld earlier this month agreed similar deals with fellow Serie A clubs Fluminense and Goiás. Atlético is set to be the first team to showcase the company’s DrySkyn-branded kit.
“Atlético was chosen as the first football club to wear the brand and is the main representative of the brand in Brazil,” the club’s president Daniel Nepomuceno said. “We closed a record contract for the club and we will work together with Dryworld to deliver the best material to our fans.”
Dryworld replaces German sportswear firm Puma as the club’s kit partner.
