Global logistics company DHL has entered into a partnership with the Italian Volleyball Federation (FIPAV).
DHL Express Italy will serve as the national team’s shirt sponsor and will also become an official partner of the federation’s major events.
The deal will run until the end of 2020. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed but the Gazzetta dello Sport newspaper said the deal would be worth more than €1m ($1.2m) a year.
The shirt sponsorship deal, which was unveiled at the headquarters of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), will begin with the Volleyball Nations League, which gets underway in May.
CONI president Giovanni Malagò said: “Having a main sponsor of the likes of DHL is a truly excellent result obtained by FIPAV and once again testifies to the popularity and strength of the movement. When an important company like DHL invests it means that it really believes in its partner.”
DHL will replace Kinder Plus Sport, an organiser of youth-focused sports and mobility campaigns, as the shirt sponsor of the Italian national team.
