Deutsche Bahn-owned company DB Schenker has been announced as the official logistics provider for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
DB Schenker will provide warehouse space, warehouse operations including staff and equipment, and freight transportation services to the multi-sport event.
It will be the third time DB Schenker has supplied its services to the Commonwealth Games, having been an official provider at Manchester 2002 and Melbourne 2006, while it was also an exclusive supplier at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
DB Schenker has also worked with the International Paralympic Committee since 2004 and recently extended its agreement to provide logistics, freight forwarding and customs clearance services throughout the Sochi 2014 Olympic winter Games and Rio 2016 summer Games.
In other news, Glasgow 2014 has appointed Selex ES as its official protective perimeter security provider.
Selex ES, a Finmeccanica company, will provide a wide range of physical perimeter security measures to secure over 20 Games venues, including the Athletes Village.
Glasgow 2014’s other official providers are Ramler RGS, Trespass, Riedel, Ticketmaster, Sports Technology, Icon, Boston Networks and Gymnova.
