Global technology engineering firm Danfoss has agreed a deal to sponsor pan-European club ice hockey competition the Champions Hockey League.
The one-year deal, which was brokered by the Infront Sports & Media agency, will cover the upcoming 2016-17 season. The agreement includes the option for an extension.
Danfoss will serve as a second-tier official sponsor of the competition alongside Swiss watchmaker Tissot and Czech automotive manufacturer Skoda.
As an official sponsor, Danfoss and its two air conditioning brands, VLT and VACON, will receive exposure during games through LED and under-ice advertising. Danfoss will gain further promotion through official CHL print communications, while the company will also receive tickets to matches.
“The Champions Hockey League, as the only pan-European ice hockey platform, is a highly compelling opportunity,” Heikki Hiltunen, senior vice-president of sales, marketing and service for Danfoss Drives, said. “It offers our brands superb exposure across many of our key sales regions, such as central and northern Europe, which all hold a strong affiliation to the sport.
“This cooperation gives Danfoss Drives a good opportunity to offer inspiring experiences to our customers and key stakeholders as well as utilise CHL content in our marketing communications.”
The deal with Danfoss completes the CHL’s sponsorship line-up for the 2016-17 season, which gets underway on August 16.
Bruno Marty, executive director of winter sports at Infront, said: “The addition of Danfoss as a new brand in the sponsorship line-up demonstrates that we are on the right path. With one presenting sponsor, three official sponsors and six official partners, we are now sold out and ready to tackle the upcoming season.”
