French retail banking group Credit Agricole has confirmed a partnership with football club OGC Nice, which competes in the country's top-tier Ligue 1.
The terms of the agreement were undisclosed but Credit Agricole chief executive Michel Mathieu said that his company “intended to be a long-term partner”.
Credit Agricole moves into French club football with the deal, building on the presence it has established by partnering with the French national side and the Coupe Gambardella – a tournament featuring the U19 teams from France’s leading clubs, organised by the French Football Federation.
As part of the agreement, Credit Agricole will launch a co-branded Nice Visa card for fans.
Nice fell to 15th in the Ligue 1 standings this weekend after losing 3-0 at Lorient.
