Corinthians likes Facebook partnership

Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football club Corinthians has entered into a partnership with social media platform Facebook.

The partnership, the length of which was not disclosed, will begin with Corinthians’ Copa Libertadores match against Uruguayan side Nacional later today (Wednesday).

During the game, the ‘F/Corinthians’ message will be displayed on the sleeves of the players’ jerseys to promote the club’s Facebook page.

A Corinthians programme entitled 1910 – the year the club was formed – will also be broadcast weekly at 7.10pm via the Facebook Live service. The programme will feature exclusive content and interviews with special guests.

During the Serie A campaign, which begins later this month, some Corinthians players will display their Instagram handles in place of their names on the backs of their jerseys. Facebook acquired photo and video sharing platform Instagram in 2012.

Facebook will also organise workshops for technical staff and players at Corinthians’ training centre.

Corinthians begins its 2016 Serie A season with a home fixture against Grêmio on May 15.
