US financial services company Comerica Bank has struck a five-year extension to its naming rights deal for the home of Major League Baseball team the Detroit Tigers.
The original agreement was due to run through to the end of 2029, but has now been extended under an arrangement that will mean the ballpark will continue to be known as Comerica Park through to the end of 2034.
Comerica moved its headquarters from Detroit to Dallas in 2007, but still has a significant presence in the state of Michigan. Comerica has held naming rights to the stadium since it opened in April 2000.
Under the extended deal, Comerica said it will continue the Comerica Park Perks program in the 2018 season, a promotion that includes discount tickets and pregame parties, among other benefits.
“Comerica Bank and the Tigers have a rich history in Detroit, and our ballpark sponsorship has allowed us to celebrate that history while deepening relationships with our customers and strengthening our community,” Michael T. Ritchie, president of Comerica Bank-Michigan, said, according to the Detroit Free Press newspaper.
