The Belgian Football Association (URBSFA/KBVB) has announced French financial services firm Cofidis will end its seven-year term as the title sponsor of the Belgian Cup domestic club competition.
Codifis will stand down at the end of the 2014-15 season and the association will link its search for a new commercial partner for the domestic knockout competition to its negotiation of new television rights packages. The Belgian Cup’s current TV deals also expire at the end of the 2014-15 campaign.
URBSFA/KBVB said in a statement: “The decision is a result of a change in communication with Cofidis. Cofidis is nevertheless very satisfied with the collaboration of the past seven years.”
Having initially partnered the competition in 2008, the last Codifis Cup final will take place on March 21. Lokeren beat Zulte Waregem 1-0 in the 2014 final.
