Coca-Cola replaces PepsiCo as Kentucky Derby sponsor

Soft drinks manufacturer Coca-Cola has been unveiled as an official sponsor of US horse-racing showpiece the Kentucky Derby.
 
Coca-Cola will serve as the official and exclusive soft drinks partner of the event, replacing rival company PepsiCo in the role.
 
The five-year deal was announced by Churchill Downs, the home of the Kentucky Derby.
 
The agreement, which begins with the 2018 event, includes in-kind products and direct promotional and marketing support of a range of Coca-Cola products, including its eponymous brand as well as Diet Coke, Coke Zero Sugar, Coca-Cola Life, Sprite, Powerade and Dasani.
 
Coca-Cola will also support community initiatives and fundraising events during Derby week, and launch activations such as virtual reality experiences and customised race-day bottles.
 
The 144th edition of the Kentucky Derby will take place at Churchill Downs on May 5, 2018.
