US sports equipment manufacturer Xenith has agreed a supplier partnership with the China Arena Football League, the country’s first professional American football league.
The length of the deal, which names Xenith as the CAFL’s exclusive equipment partner, was not disclosed but the agreement will at least cover the league’s inaugural season, which is scheduled to begin next month.
Under the agreement, all CAFL players will wear Xenith helmets and shoulder pads during games. Xenith’s helmets are fitted with technology that protect athletes against linear and rotational forces.
“The opportunity to provide professional athletes with the best protective technology on a global stage is truly unique,” Xenith president Ryan Sullivan said.
The CAFL’s inaugural season, entitled Super Series 2016, will get underway in Beijing on the weekend of October 1-2. The league will continue with fixtures in Dalian, Qingdao, Guangzhou and Shenzhen before the first-ever CAFL Championship weekend is held at Shanghai Oriental Stadium on November 5-6.
