Newly-promoted English Premier League football club Burnley has agreed a shirt sponsorship deal with online betting company Dafabet.
Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed, although Burnley confirmed in a statement that the two parties had agreed a “record, multi-million-pound deal.” The two-year agreement will cover the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons.
Under the deal, Dafabet’s branding will adorn the front of Burnley’s playing shirts and its logo will feature on all adult replica shirts sold by the club. Due to restrictions placed on the advertisement of betting companies, junior replica shirts will feature the logo of the club’s community department.
“This has been a lengthy process, involving many different companies of all stature all over the world,” Anthony Fairclough, head of commercial affairs at Burnley, said. “It highlights just how far the club has come as a commercial entity across the globe.
“We have been invited to boardroom tables where previously we would never have had the opportunity. However, Dafabet quickly emerged as our preferred partner due to their proven track record within (the) Premier League and we look forward to initiating some of the inventory in our partnership.”
Dafabet currently has partnerships with fellow Premier League sides Sunderland and Everton, Scottish Premiership champion Celtic and the Football Association of Wales.
Burnley secured promotion to the Premier League last season after winning the second-tier Championship.
