The Bangladesh Cricket Board has reached an agreement for telecommunications operator Robi Axiata to serve as the main sponsor of its national team.
Media planning company Top of Mind, the operating group for Robi Axiata which held the sponsorship rights for Bangladesh’s recent series against Pakistan, came out on top in a tender process which also covers Bangladesh’s Under-19 and A team for the next two years.
The sponsorship rights do not cover International Cricket Council tournaments, with the BCB set to auction rights for the 2016 editions of the World T20 and Under-19 World Cup separately.
Earlier this week, the BCB announced that its sponsorship tender had received interest from six parties and its president Nazmul Hassan confirmed Top of Mind as the highest bidder with an offer of $5.32m (€4.7m), outstripping telecommunications provider Grameenphone, which put forward $5.27m in the third and final round of bidding.
The other companies involved in the process were Impress Telefilms, Property Development Ltd, AKC (Pvt) Ltd and Bangladesh Lift Industries Ltd.
