Japanese digital entertainment company Konami has entered into a global partnership with Spanish LaLiga football club Barcelona.
Konami has agreed a three-year deal with the Catalan club covering the 2016-17 to 2018-19 seasons.
Under the agreement, Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer title has been named a premium partner of Barcelona. Konami will launch a special Barcelona edition of the PES 2017 game when it is released on September 15.
Konami will receive extensive advertising exposure at the club’s Camp Nou stadium on match days, and its branding will feature in the backdrops of interviews and press conferences. It will also receive access to players for marketing campaigns.
Konami will recreate the club’s stadium, players and anthem in PES 2017, which will feature Barcelona-specific promotions in the myClub game mode.
“This is a real statement of intent for us,” Tomotada Tashiro, president of Konami Digital Entertainment, said. “By working closely with a team of Barcelona’s stature we can introduce the PES series to a huge global fan base. This partnership will deliver access to the very best players in the modern game and to one of the world’s most respected and ambitious clubs.”
