US financial institution Bank of America has enhanced its long-standing association with the Special Olympics multi-sport event ahead of its 2015 World Games in Los Angeles.
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation will provide $5m (€3.68m) to support LA2015. Bank of America joins Coca-Cola, Deloitte, Mattel and Toyota as an official partner of the sports-and-humanitarian event.
Bank of America recently had five athletes compete in the 2014 Special Olympics USA Games, all of whom work on the company’s Support Services team, which provides employment to approximately 300 individuals with disabilities.
Additionally, more than 2,000 Bank of America employees have performed volunteer work with Special Olympics over the past 18 months.
The World Games will take place in Los Angeles from July 25 to August 2, 2015.
