Telecommunications operator Robi has entered into a strategic partnership with the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
The two parties have agreed a three-year deal, which will run until 2019. Robi also currently serves as the main sponsor of the Bangladesh national team.
As part of its new deal, Robi will work with the BCB on its Talent Hunt programme and sponsor the body’s annual awards ceremony. Robi will also provide smartphones with special-offer bundles to national team players and BCB directors and officials.
“In the past, we had short-term programmes and we could not continue with those, which was why we could not bring the best out of them,” BCB vice-president Mahbub Anam said, according to Bangladeshi newspaper the Daily Star. “This was the reason the board has decided to go for the strategic deal.”
