Badminton Association of Malaysia signs lucrative Victor deal

Taiwanese sporting goods supplier Victor has signed a six-year sponsorship deal with the Badminton Association of Malaysia.

The contract runs from 2015 to 2020 and is worth RM60m (€14.7m/$16.8m) over the course of the term.

Victor replaces Yonex, which had been the BAM’s equipment supplier for the past 15 years.

"Victor will supply sports equipment to the BAM and through the sponsorship deal, the BAM's financial standing will also become stronger," BAM president Tan Sri Tengku Mahaleel Tengku Ariff said, according to the Malaysian Insider website.

"It is also in line with Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin's call for national sports associations to become self-reliant and not merely depend on the government for funding."
