The Australian Olympic Committee has entered into a partnership with Japanese sportswear manufacturer Asics.
The deal runs until the Tokyo 2020 summer Games and names Asics as the official team competition and sportswear apparel partner of Australia’s Olympic teams.
Asics has already agreed a deal to support Tokyo 2020 as a domestic sponsor of its home Games.
Through its partnership with the AOC, Asics will provide sports competition and training apparel, along with casual wear and related footwear to Australian athletes at Tokyo 2020. The deal also covers the 2018 summer and 2020 winter Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in Buenos Aires and Lausanne, respectively.
AOC president John Coates (pictured) said: “This (deal) followed an approach I made while in Tokyo last December and will see the host team, Japan, Australia and Uruguay as the only teams outfitted in this prestigious brand in Tokyo.”
