Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A football team Atlético Mineiro has agreed a partnership with Brazilian sportswear brand Topper, which will replace Canadian apparel provider Dryworld as the club’s kit supplier.
The four-year deal will run from 2017 to 2020. Topper also partnered with the club from 2010 to 2012.
Under the agreement, Topper will control Loja do Galo de Lourdes, Atlético’s official club shop.
Dryworld signed a five-year deal, covering the 2016 to 2020 seasons, with the club in January. Atlético said at the time that the deal, which was reportedly worth around R$100m (€28.4m/$30.2m) in total, was the largest in its history.
However, Atlético has confirmed that its partnership will Dryworld will end on December 31, with the club stating that there have been contractual and financial issues surrounding the agreement.
Last week, English Premier League club Watford announced that German sportswear brand Adidas would replace Dryworld as its kit partner from the 2017-18 season onwards.
The announcement came just months after Watford signed a three-season deal, covering the 2016-17 to 2018-19 campaigns, with Dryworld, which is reportedly at risk of having similar partnerships with Brazilian clubs Goias and Fluminense cut short amid financial worries.
