The Australian Rugby Union has announced sportswear brand Asics as the kit supplier to its national teams from 2014.
The length of the deal was not disclosed but it expands upon Asics’ current agreement, which makes it the official footwear supplier to the ARU’s teams.
Under the renewed partnership, all Australian national teams, including women’s and sevens sides, will wear Asics apparel and footwear with the brand’s logo appearing on all jerseys.
In addition to its deal with the ARU, Asics counts Australia stars James Horwill, Israel Folau and Stephen Moore among its rugby ambassadors.
Australia’s men’s sevens squad will be the first to sport the new Asics kit in January when it competes in the Las Vegas leg of the Sevens World Series, while the Asics range of replica Australia apparel will be available in retail stores from May 2014.
Asics replaces English firm KooGa as the ARU’s new kit partner.
