English Premier League football club Arsenal is in talks with German sportswear manufacturer Adidas over a lucrative new kit deal, according to reports.
Arsenal’s kits have been supplied by rival German company Puma since the 2014-15 season and the two parties’ relationship is currently set to conclude at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
According to the Daily Mail newspaper, Arsenal has lined up Adidas as Puma’s replacement as part of a deal that could be worth more than £40m (€46m/$57m) per season. The Mail said the negotiations between the club and Adidas are at an advanced stage.
Puma’s deal with Arsenal is worth a reported £30m a season and the Mail said that the company has the option to match any offer made by a rival firm.
Puma replaced US sportswear company Nike as Arsenal’s kit supplier in 2014. Nike had provided the London club’s kit for 20 years.
Arsenal is also said to be in talks over a sleeve sponsorship deal. The 2017-18 season marks the first year that Premier League clubs have been able to sign a sleeve sponsor and the majority of clubs have agreed such deals.
