German financial services provider Allianz has been unveiled as the Naming Rights partner of the future home stadium of Major League Soccer franchise Minnesota United.
Under the agreement, the stadium, which is due to open in time for the start of the 2019 MLS season, will be known as Allianz Field.
Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America agreed the multi-year deal with the club, which entered MLS earlier this year.
The stadium adds to Allianz’s growing portfolio of stadium sponsorships. The company recently acquired naming rights to the home of Italian Serie A football club Juventus and also sponsors the Allianz Arena, the home of German Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich.
Allianz also sponsors venues in Nice, France; London, England; Vienna, Austria; Sao Paulo, Brazil; and Sydney, Australia. Allianz Field marks the company’s first such stadium partnership in North America.
Allianz Life president and chief executive Walter White said: “As a global company with a long tradition of stadium sponsorship and a strong connection to soccer around the world, Allianz is proud to join Minnesota United FC in bringing this facility to soccer fans in our great state. Allianz Field provides us with an opportunity to connect with audiences both new and old, share our passion for soccer and reinforce our ongoing commitment to supporting our community.”
Allianz Field will have a capacity of 19,400, which will be expandable to almost 25,000.
