Supermarket chain Aldi has entered into a partnership with Football Federation Australia.
From January 1, Aldi will take on naming rights to the FFA’s MiniRoos initiative as part of a three-year deal that will run until the end of 2019. The partnership includes the option of an extension.
The deal also names Aldi as an official partner and the official supermarket of the W-League, the top-tier women’s competition in the country.
The MiniRoos programme provides short training sessions and games for young children across Australia. Aldi will replace the AIA Vitality wellness programme as the initiative’s naming rights partner.
Over 215,000 children have participated in MiniRoos since the scheme launched in February 2015.
“With the support of Aldi I’m sure that we can continue to increase the number of kids experiencing football and we look forward to working closely with Aldi in relation to the MiniRoos and Westfield W-League competition,” FFA chief executive David Gallop (pictured) said.
Last week, Aldi agreed a similar grassroots-focused partnership with the Irish Rugby Football Union, the governing body of rugby union in the country.
