The International Boxing Association (Aiba) has named Chinese sports equipment manufacturer Taishan Sports as the official equipment supplier for its five continental championships in 2017.
The championships will serve as the sole qualification route for this year’s Men’s World Championships, which will take place in the German city of Hamburg from August 25 to September 3.
Taishan will provide equipment for each of the five qualifying events and will also offer its equipment to all 201 national federations at a preferred rate.
The deal comes after Taishan in December signed an agreement with Aiba to become an innovation partner of the body.
Aiba president Dr Ching-Kuo Wu said: “Such a deal provides us with the consistency and quality that these tournaments demand, and by making their equipment more accessible for all of our 201 member federations, the agreement brings further benefits to the AIBA family as a whole.”
The five continental championships will take place in Congo, Honduras, Uzbekistan, Ukraine and Australia between May and June.
