The American Hockey League (AHL), which serves as the development competition for North America’s NHL ice hockey league, has announced a partnership with group purchasing organisation Essensa.
The exact length of the multi-year partnership was not disclosed.
As part of the deal, Essensa will sponsor the AHL marketing meeting and AHL annual meeting. The company will also become the official group purchasing organisation of the AHL.
Essensa will offer cost-saving help and support to the AHL and its 30 participating teams.
John P. Sganga, Essensa's president and chief executive, said: “This relationship is a natural progression for Essensa, which for more than five years has helped teams as well as sports and recreation organisations streamline and reduce costs in procuring goods and services.”
AHL clubs can also become Essensa GPO members, with five clubs having already chosen to do so.
