The National Australia Bank has signed on as the title sponsor of the newly-formed AFL Women’s League Aussie rules competition.
The deal officially names the competition as the NAB AFL Women’s League.
Terms of the agreement were not disclosed, although the Herald Sun newspaper reported that a three-year deal, with the option of a further three years, had been agreed. According to the report, the agreement will also be worth between Aus$2m (€1.4m/$1.5m) and Aus$3m per year.
The inaugural season of the eight-team AFL Women’s League will take place in February and March next year.
Meanwhile, the NAB has also extended its partnership with the AFL’s Auskick youth initiative and the AFL player pathway programme by a further six years until 2022. The bank has been associated with the AFL for the past 14 years.
