THE NEWS THAT AT&T would not be renewing its 4-year sponsorship of Williams Formula 1 was greeted with dismay by F1 fans concerned that the team will struggle to replace the reported $26m that the company spends each year. That may be true but observers of the international telecoms market in which the company operates will not have been surprised at its decision.
