Dubai-based airline Emirates has signed a five-year extension to its partnership with UAE Rugby, the governing body of rugby union in the country.
Emirates will retain its position as the body’s exclusive airline sponsor until 2021 as part of the renewed deal. The airline will also continue to sponsor the UAE men’s, women’s and U20 national sevens and 15s teams.
Under the agreement, Emirates’ branding will feature on the playing jerseys of each team.
“It is one of our strategic goals to have an all-Emirati UAE national Test side by 2021,” Qais Al Dhalai, UAE Rugby secretary general, said, according to Sport360 website. “Emirates’ renewed sponsorship will assist with realising this goal.”
Emirates also serves as a worldwide partner of the Rugby World Cup and has title sponsored the Dubai Rugby Sevens national team tournament for over two decades.
