The Sunfoil Dolphins cricket franchise, which competes in the South African Sunfoil Series, has signed an associate sponsorship deal with Hollywoodbets, a sports betting provider and bookmaker.
The three-season deal will run from 2015-16 to 2017-18 and is the first of its kind for a professional cricket club in South Africa.
Pete de Wet, chief executive at the KwaZulu-Natal-based club, said: “Sponsorship is a vital component in our ability to ensure that our team is adequately equipped to succeed on the field.”
Hollywoodbets has pledged to comply with the restrictions placed on sports betting in South Africa.
Devin Heffer, Hollywoodbets media and communications executive, said: “We are confident that the strict enforcement of rules designed to protect and safeguard the game of cricket in South Africa will see this relationship between us and one of South Africa’s top cricket franchises become a hugely positive and mutually beneficial alliance.”
