Retail company LuLu Group International has agreed a deal to sponsor the 2019 edition of the Special Olympics World Games, an event for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
LuLu will serve as the retail sponsor of the summer Games, which will be held in Abu Dhabi. LuLu joins ADNOC and Etihad as sponsors of the event.
LuLu will work with the local organising committee on a range of in-store and mall activations ahead of the Games, with employee volunteering and fundraising activities to also be launched.
Yussuf Ali Ma, chairman of LuLu, said: “It is our proud privilege to associate with such a humanitarian international event which is going to further strengthen Abu Dhabi’s and UAE’s image as one of the most benevolent countries in the world. I look at this partnership not just as a sponsorship agreement, but as a concrete step towards making this world take note of people with special abilities and offers them greater role in life.”
The 2019 Games will take place from March 14-21. Abu Dhabi will become the first city in the Middle East and North Africa region to host the event.
