German sportswear company Puma has announced it will continue as the official technical and apparel sponsor of South African Super Rugby team the Cheetahs until beyond the 2016 rugby union season.
Puma initially entered into an agreement with the franchise’s operating body, Free State Rugby Union, in October 2010.
Cheetahs will continue to wear Puma in all frontline tournaments, namely Super Rugby and the Vodacom Cup and Currie Cup competitions.
The deal underscores Puma’s presence in South African rugby union, where it also supplies kit to fellow Super Rugby outfit the Bulls and Southern Kings – the latter team having been relegated from the southern hemisphere’s premier club competition last year.
