Malaysian oil and gas company Petronas and Turkmenistan Airlines have been named as official partners of this year’s Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will take place in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan Airlines is the country’s flag carrier and is headquartered in Ashgabat. The company becomes the first national brand to sponsor this year’s Games.
Turkmenistan Airlines will support arrivals and departures operations at Ashgabat Airport for the event, with over 8,000 athletes and guests set to descend on the city.
Dayanch Gulgeldiyev, chairman of the Games’ executive committee, said: “It is fantastic to have one of the biggest brands in the country become a partner of Ashgabat 2017. Turkmenistan Airlines will play a big role in the Games, by providing international transport services and showcasing the warm Turkmen hospitality before our guests … touch down in the country.”
Petronas is the national oil and gas company of Malaysia and has been active in Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector through Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) Sdn Bhd.
The Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will run from September 17-27.
