Russia’s national airline Aeroflot has agreed a deal to become a technical partner of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games torch relay.
The agreement extends Aeroflot’s co-operation with Sochi 2014, having been a general partner in the category of passenger airlines since 2009.
Aeroflot will provide one of its Airbus A320 aircrafts to carry the Olympic flame from Greece to Moscow. The plane, which has been decorated with Sochi 2014 branding, will also carry the relay team during air sections of the route.
The Aeroflot plane will today leave for Moscow following a two-day stopover in Athens, transporting the Olympic flame to Vnukovo International Airport.
The air sections of the relay take in Russia’s northern regions from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok, along with the territory of North Caucasus.
The presenting partners of the Sochi 2014 Olympic torch relay are soft drinks brand Coca-Cola, insurance company OSAO Ingosstrakh and OAO Russian Railways.
