Nordic-based financial services group Nordea has extended its title sponsorship of the Scandinavian Masters European Tour golf tournament for the next three years.
The announcement of Nordea’s new deal with the event comes alongside the Lagardere Unlimited agency’s acquisition of the tournament from Bjorn Oras – the owner of Bro Hof Golf Club near Stockholm, which hosted the 2013 event.
Thomas Wallén, head of golf at Lagardère Unlimited Scandinavia, said: “Our ambition is to grow the tournament together with Nordea, and make it one of Europe’s most important golf events.”
The Nordea Masters is Scandinavia’s only event on the European Tour and will be played at PGA of Sweden National in Bara, near Malmo, for the next two years before heading back to Bro Hof Golf Club.
Sweden’s world No.4 and Ryder Cup star Henrik Stenson will play his home competition for the first time in three years in 2014 and will be one of a field hoping to succeed Finland’s defending champion Mikko Ilonen.
