Financial services company Nedbank has agreed a new long-term deal to continue as title sponsor of the Nedbank Cup, a club competition organised by South Africa’s Premier Soccer League.
The deal has not been formally announced by the PSL, although Nedbank’s head of sponsorships, Tobi Badenhorst, revealed that a new 10-year agreement has been signed while delivering a pre-recorded video message at the PSL awards ceremony earlier this week.
The PSL’s communications manager Luxolo September confirmed to South African newspaper The Times that the deal has been signed. “We will make a formal announcement about that. But it’s an open secret that the negotiations are complete,” he said.
Nedbank has sponsored the tournament since 2008. SuperSport United is the defending champion, having defeated the Orlando Pirates 4-1 in this year’s final.
