Kanbawza set to seal SEA Games sponsorship

The Kanbawza Group has entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Dentsu agency to become an official sponsor of Myanmar’s staging of the 2013 Southeast Asia (SEA) Games, according to the Eleven Myanmar media group.

The Kanbawza Group, which consists of Kanbawza Bank, Air Kanbawza and provides other services such as insurance, aims to become an official sponsor when the 27th edition of the SEA Games arrives in the country in December. It is expected to sign a contract next week.

Kanbawza has announced it will provide $2m (€1.53m) to the Myanmar government to help finance the Games. In addition to a $1m sponsorship relating to airline and banking services, senior managing director of Kanbawza Bank, Than Cho, said the remaining $1m would be donated for “the inspiration of Myanmar athletes”.

Kanbawza Bank plans to place ATM machines and foreign exchange centres in social zones of Yangon, Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw and Ngwe Saung where SEA Games events will take place.
