Financial services company Zylofon Cash has been unveiled as the title sponsor of the Ghana Premier League, the top tier of club football in the country.
Financial terms of the five-year deal were not disclosed but Ghanaian news website MyJoyOnline said the agreement would be worth $10m (€8.5m) in total.
The Ghana Football Association said the deal would contribute “immensely” to the development of the league and Ghanaian football.
The GPL has recently seen a number of sponsors exit the league, but Zyolofon Group’s chief executive, Nana Appiah Mensah, has said the company is committed to its deal.
Nana Appiah said, according to the Ghana News Agency: “Any time a sponsor comes on board, they are coming with certain defined objectives, but usually nobody gets disappointed where they don’t have expectations, so for us we are here and we don’t want to be seen us just putting in money, but we are going to participate and work hand in hand with GFA and be a part of the day-to-day operations of the Premier League.
“I can assure you that we are here to do this and stay because we even proposed 10 years, but we decided to do a five-year tenure and we will review and re-engage them in the future.”
