Telecommunications company Telekom Romania has agreed a deal to become the new main sponsor of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF).
The deal is for two years, covering the period running through the Uefa Euro 2016 national team tournament. Romania is currently in a strong position to qualify for next year’s finals in France as it stands top of its qualifying group, one point ahead of Northern Ireland.
There is an option for a further extension to the deal, which would take in the 2018 Fifa World Cup. Financial terms were not disclosed.
The Telekom Romania deal comes after Spanish sportswear company Joma last month reached an agreement to become the new technical sponsor of the FRF.
Joma has agreed a four-year deal that will run from 2015 to 2019 and it replaces German multinational Adidas, which has partnered the FRF for the past 45 years.
