Bosnian football club FK Sarajevo has signed a shirt sponsorship deal with Turkey’s national carrier Turkish Airlines.
The terms of the multi-year agreement, which grants Turkish Airlines front-of-shirt branding, were not disclosed.
FK Sarajevo general manager Dino Selimovic identified the deal as an important step for his club, which has suffered turbulent financial times over recent years.
Selimovic said: “Until recently FK Sarajevo had some serious financial problems, which threatened to close us, but we have managed to turn around the situation in the club in the last four years. I would like to use this opportunity to thank the local team of Turkish Airlines, which sent our proposal to their central office in Istanbul.”
Turkish Airlines adds FK Sarajevo to a vast European football portfolio that features the likes of Barcelona, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund. It operates 14 flight routes to Sarajevo, expanding to 18 later in the year.
FK Sarajevo will wear kits featuring Turkish Airlines’ branding for the first time when it travels to Zvijezda Gradacac in the Premier League of Bosnia and Herzegovina tomorrow (Friday). The club is currently sitting second in the table.
