Emirates airline has announced it will sponsor the 2015 GCC Club Cup, with the 30th edition of the football competition having kicked off on Tuesday.
The annual tournament features 12 teams from the six Gulf Cooperation Council members – UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
Emirates will benefit from visibility at stadiums during the 33 matches, along with hospitality rights.
Sheikh Majid Al Mualla, divisional senior vice-president for the commercial operations centre at Emirates, said: “This tournament will provide us with an excellent way of communicating with football fans, as well as generating brand exposure in the nine key markets that we operate.”
The GCC Club Cup is the latest addition to Emirates’ substantial football portfolio, which includes partnership with major European clubs Arsenal, Real Madrid, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as the Asian Football Confederation.
