Beer brand Carlsberg has agreed a three-year sponsorship deal with the Football Association of Malawi to back the southeast African country’s national team.
The deal is worth $600,000 (€435,000), which will be paid in three equal instalments annually. It is the first national team sponsorship in Malawi’s history.
The agreement extends Carlsberg’s association with Malawian football, which dates back 46 years and includes support of grassroots initiatives and the title sponsorship of the Carlsberg Cup.
Malawi hosts Chad in the first leg of a qualifier for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations on May 18.
