Panasonic chief executive Kazuhiro Tsuga has said the Japanese home electronics company is keen to extend its long-term sponsorship of the Olympic Games up until the 2020 edition of the event in Tokyo.

Japanese commercial electronics company Rakuten has been added to the list of official bid partners for Tokyo 2020, the city’s bid to host the 2020 Olympic Games.

Panasonic is targeting growth in the Russian market with its supplier deal for the 2014 winter Olympics in Sochi, the electronics brand told Sports Sponsorship Insider this month.

Tokyo 2020 has further expanded the roster of commercial partners for its bid to host the Summer Olympic Games by announcing interactive entertainment company Sega and life insurance firm Nippon as official bid partners.
