Nike disposal of Umbro may end England FA sponsorship

MEDIA REPORTS claim Euro 2012 seems sure to be the last tournament at which Umbro have its logo on the England shirts. Umbro was bought by US apparel giant Nike back in 2007 in a deal worth $580m, with Nike attracted by Umbro's heritage as a “genuine football brand”. Umbro’s association with England is one of the oldest in football as, apart from a decade from 1974 onwards, England shirts have been supplied by the brand since 1954, including for the World Cup winning team of 1966.
