MOBILE PHONE operators are among the biggest sponsors of sport so Frontiers is always interested in corporate activity in the sector particularly where it involves the world’s richest man, Carlos Slim. Slim, owner of LatAm telcom América Móvil, is reported to have bid $6.5bn to take over the 40% of the Mexican mobile company he doesn’t already own. América Móvil sponsored the recent Copa de America and Slim is also supporting the Rio 2016 Olympics through his Claro brand.
