Honda has agreed a four-year deal with the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) to become the first official partner for professional and elite volleyball and beach volleyball.
The Japanese car company will sponsor major FIVB international events, such as the Women’s Volleyball World Championship, the World League, the World Grand Prix, the Club World Championships and the Beach Volleyball World Championships.
The new partnership has been struck under the FIVB Global Partnership Strategy, an initiative that forms part of the wider FIVB Partnership which aims to integrate a select few brands with exclusive rights across FIVB volleyball and beach volleyball events.
The move by the FIVB comes at a time when the sport is experiencing significant growth, with volleyball having been recognised as one of the top five sports at the London 2012 Olympic Games – where it claimed a share of over 10 per cent of all tickets sold at the Games.
