Credit card growth fastest but plenty of headroom

CREDIT CARDS, particularly bitter rivals Visa and MasterCard, are regularly the subject of Frontiers’ attention so news that spending on plastic is growing fast caught our eye. Relentless growth has come despite the ravages of recession and regular online security breaches. The two companies’ share prices – roughly 20 times earnings – suggest investors are confident they can continue to defy the kind of gravity affecting more mundane stocks.
