Super brand Unilever latest to take the direct approach through Facebook

UNILEVER HAS announced it is to launch a Facebook campaign to engage consumers around some of its biggest brands including Dove, Flora and Carte d’Or ice cream. In an attempt to turn social media contacts into advocates for their brands the company will invite consumers to give direct feedback on its products and marketing in exchange for rewards and incentives. Rachel Bristow, Unilever UK media director says: “To meet our challenging growth ambitions for the company, it’s imperative that we understand and engage with consumers in a new, interactive and relevant way.” Customers can use the Unilever VIP to take part in surveys and apply for money-off coupons in a move designed to push the corporate brand alongside the consumer products.
