HSBC CEO: a banker through and through

FRONTIERS' COMMITMENT is to bring you the sports marketing impact of major events in the corporate world yet despite extensive digging we are unable to unearth any colour on new HSBC CEO Stuart Gulliver. The man who will be responsible for an enormous change of direction at the World’s Local Bank joined straight from Oxford University over 30 years ago after studying jurisprudence. His route to the top spot has seen him working from the Gulf, the USA and most recently in Hong Kong but media reports have focused on his remuneration reported to be over £9m. One brief reference to a passion for sailing and dog walking doesn’t suggest he will take a keen interest in the rugby and golf properties that HSBC has sponsored but no doubt his nose for a good deal will recognise where sports marketing is paying through for the brand. - 11/5/2011
